SUNDAY SERMON
Topic: WEEP NOT
Text: 1 Samuel 11:1-9KJV
1 Then Nahash the Ammonite came up, and encamped against Jabeshgilead: and all the men of Jabesh said unto Nahash, Make a covenant with us, and we will serve thee.
2 And Nahash the Ammonite answered them, On this condition will I make a covenant with you, that I may thrust out all your right eyes, and lay it for a reproach upon all Israel.
3 And the elders of Jabesh said unto him, Give us seven days’ respite, that we may send messengers unto all the coasts of Israel: and then, if there be no man to save us, we will come out to thee.
4 Then came the messengers to Gibeah of Saul, and told the tidings in the ears of the people: and all the people lifted up their voices, and wept.
5 And, behold, Saul came after the herd out of the field; and Saul said, What aileth the people that they weep? And they told him the tidings of the men of Jabesh.
6 And the Spirit of God came upon Saul when he heard those tidings, and his anger was kindled greatly.
7 And he took a yoke of oxen, and hewed them in pieces, and sent them throughout all the coasts of Israel by the hands of messengers, saying, Whosoever cometh not forth after Saul and after Samuel, so shall it be done unto his oxen. And the fear of the Lordfell on the people, and they came out with one consent.
8 And when he numbered them in Bezek, the children of Israel were three hundred thousand, and the men of Judah thirty thousand.
9 And they said unto the messengers that came, Thus shall ye say unto the men of Jabeshgilead, To morrow, by that time the sun be hot, ye shall have help. And the messengers came and shewed it to the men of Jabesh; and they were glad.
Our scriptural passage is the story of a people called the Jabeshgilead, who were encamped by a warrior from the land of Ammon known as Nahash. The people of Jabeshgilead submit themselves to Nahash to serve him but told Nahash to make a convenant with them that they would live, but Nahash opened his mouth, and told that he would thrust out their eyes for a reproach. The men of Jabeshgilead told Nahash to give seven days to seek for help and if after seven days there is no help they would returned back to him to suffer in his hands. As the news spread, the people of Jabeshgilead wept and wept until Saul heard the news and came to their rescue. I decree every oppression of the wicked, that causes you to weep shall cease in Jesus Name. I pray that God will come to your rescue and you shall weep no more in Jesus Name.
To weep no more you need to:
* Focus on God: Life is full of challenges that could bring out tears from the eyes of anyman, oppression could make one to weep but it’s important to focus on God, because he alone can help you.
The scripture says they look up to him, their faces were radiant and they were not ashamed, I pray as you look up to God, help is on the way in Jesus Name and you will not be put to shame in Jesus Name.
* You need the Spirit of God: Luke 4:18 says
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.
From our scriptural text, the spirit of God came upon Saul which moved him to help the people of Jabeshgilead. The spirit can move you to where your help is and the spirit can equally send your helper to you. I decree that by the spirit of God, help will come for you in Jesus Name.
The story of the three Hebrews in Daniel chapter 3, is a great story of God’s help to his children. King Nebuchadnezzar threw these men inside a fiery furnace simply because they would not bow down to his golden image, the great God who will not deny his children, the Almighty God who has the power to deliver turned the fiery furnace into an air conditioner, and so instead of the fire to burn, it did not, rather they were walking as free men inside the fiery furnace. The Almighty God will deliver you as he delivered the three Hebrews in Jesus Name.
God promised in Isaiah 30:19 saying
For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem: thou shalt weep no more: he will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; when he shall hear it, he will answer thee.
I decree the word of God into your life, that you shall weep no more in Jesus Name, I pray that the Lord will be gracious unto you and when you cry to him, he will hear your cry in Jesus Name.
As I conclude, let me share one of the testimony of our Daddy GO, about how God wipe away the tears of a barren woman. This was a woman who had no womb as confirmed by the doctors and so medically there was no way she could conceive and bear a child, but when God would arise for her sake, she became pregnant and was delivered of two babies without a womb. I pray the miracle that will wipe away your years of sorrow the Lord will give to you in Jesus Name.
PRAYER:
* Appreciate for his words, thank him because he will wipe your tears away
* Father, wipe my tears away and let me weep no more in Jesus Name
* Father, I receive help from above in Jesus Name
* Father, I receive grace to move forward, I will not be stagnant anymore and I will not be poor in Jesus Name.
