THANKSGIVING SERVICE SERMON
Topic: A GRATEFUL HEART
Text: Luke 17:12-19KJV
12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:
13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.
14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.
15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God.
To be grateful means to be thankful, it also means to show appreciation to someone who has done something for one. It is important to note that everything a man does comes from his heart, I mean before you eat, before you talk, before you go out you must have first thought about them in your heart, in same way, gratefulness or appreciation comes from the thought of the heart. Therefore anyone who cannot think cannot thank.
LESSONS FROM OUR BIBLE TEXT
* The Lepers met with Jesus: The lepers are the ones who came to meet Jesus, they did not wait for Jesus to come and meet them. Many are in dare need of miracle from God but rather for them to go and meet God they would be waiting for God to come and meet with them. Some are proud to humble themselves to come to God for their miracle while some simply have no time for God, no time to gather their families before God for morning devotions.
* The Lepers cried out: They were not ashamed to cry out for help neither were they lazy or reluctant to do so. Many Christians are just too lazy to cry out to God for help when they need his help.
* They obeyed instructions: Many people failed to listen to God, talkless of obeying Him. If the Lepers didn’t obey his instruction, they would not have received their miracles.
* Only one came back with a loud voice: Out of ten Lepers that were cleansed of leprosy and healed, only one came back with a loud voice of thanksgiving and only him was made whole. When you appreciate God for that little miracle he will give you mega miracles.
CATEGORIES OF GRATITUDE
* Being grateful to God for who he is and for what he has done
* Being grateful to God, serving him with your substances and resources
* Being gratful to God when things are good and when things are bad
* Being grateful to God in everything according to 1 Thessalonians 5:18 which says In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
As I conclude, I want you to know that
it takes a wise and a humble heart to say thank you as it is often said that the one who is not grateful is a great fool.
May you not be a fool in Jesus Name. God bless you
PRAYER:
* Just begin to praise God and appreciate him with songs, call him by his names.
